Overview

Sissi Restaurant, nestled on Motzstraße in the heart of Berlin's vibrant Schöneberg district, offers an authentic taste of Austrian cuisine in a warm and inviting setting. This cozy eatery stands out not only for its traditional dishes but also for its welcoming atmosphere that draws a diverse crowd, from locals to visitors, many of whom appreciate the area's rich cultural scene.

The menu centers around classic Austrian specialties that showcase skill and tradition, with the Viennese Goulash and Das Wiener Schnitzel as undeniable stars. Reviewers consistently praise the schnitzel for its perfectly crisp, golden crust and tender veal inside, a true benchmark of Austrian culinary heritage. Another standout is the Kaiserschmarrn, a fluffy shredded pancake served with delicate plum sauce and ice cream, offering a delightful contrast in texture and flavor that has diners raving.

Equally impressive are the dessert offerings, such as the Marillenknödel and Apfel strudel, often enjoyed alongside house-prepared ice cream. Half way through the starter before taking picture because it’s so good! The beef soup and the veal schnitzel were the highlight!

This was an incredible evening. Our server was extremely friendly and even went above and beyond by helping me charge my phone—something I greatly appreciated. The food was impeccable. I had the bean salad, eggplant schnitzel with potato salad, and boar ragu—each dish was delicious. Service did slow toward the end of our meal as the small restaurant filled up quickly, so we decided to skip dessert. Other than that, it was a great experience.

We found Sissi while searching for a good place for dessert and it was a spot on!! I’ve never tasted better apple strudel than there - perfectly baked, served with delicious ice-cream - highly recommend! The service was quick and professional.

This restaurant is located in an area that has been very popular with the gay and lesbian scene in western Berlin for many decades. Nevertheless, the guests here are likely to represent the average younger residents of this middle-class Berlin district. I visited the restaurant on a normal working day. At 8:15 PM it was almost full to capacity. The service was very fast, very attentive and friendly. Advance booking is recommended. You definitely can't go wrong with a Wiener schnitzel!

We enjoyed a fantastic night in Sissi last night celebrating our anniversary. We had the sharing menu - a Culinary journey through Austria - and while there was a lot of food overall, it was an absolutely delectable set of dishes and a delight for the taste buds from start to finish! Once we got a handle on our pacing, we were able to savour each part of the meal. It’s difficult to pinpoint highlights, but we adored the Tarte "Alsatian style" and Viennese goulash w/ white bread dumplings. The atmosphere was warm and homely. Our servers were friendly, attentive and fun, and added another layer of positivity to the whole experience! Thank you both. When we revisit Berlin, we will be back!

Lovely restaurant on the edge of the gay area of berlin. I actually found it with a google search for “Schnitzel near me”. It was just around the corner. I arrived fairly early at 6 so was able to get a seat in the window. Service was friendly and effecient. The veal schnitzel was very tasty and a huge serve. Went perfectly with the cucumber potato salad. From how quickly people were arriving I would definitely recommend booking. Worth the trip.

I walked in without a reservation, not realizing that it would be so busy on a Wednesday evening. The staff was accommodating and friendly. They sat me at a window seat in the front and it was perfectly comfortable. I have to say that I was looking forward to a traditional Austrian meal and was not disappointed. The goulash & dumplings were excellent.
